Hello from Pure Simple Wellness – My name is Elizabeth and I’m so honored to be back here with Pure Pilates to talk about snacking.
Do you find yourself reaching for salty chips because you want a snack, but have no clue what to eat?
Do you need coffee and/or sweets at 3pm to make it through the day?
One way to stay on track is to plan ahead, so the healthy choice is the easy choice!
Here are a few tips to stay on track when it comes to snacking:
1. Wash and cut up fruits and veggies and leave them out on the counter, or at eye level inside the fridge. Your kids will choose the healthier option if it’s easily available and ready to eat.
2. Make your own trail mix with nuts, raisins and chocolate chips. This will satisfy a crunchy/salty craving but in a more healthful way than a bag of potato chips!
3. Prepare a dip for yourself such as guacamole or hummus! If you don’t have time to make it – purchase an organic option. Just make sure you read the ingredient labels for hidden sugars and preservatives. Ideally, pair it with the cut-up veggies from #1 for extra fiber – or a serving of organic tortilla chips if you must have that salty crunch.
