What is your name?
Kim Culligan
How long have you been practicing Pilates?
18 years!
What inspired you to step into the Pure Pilates studio?
I had been working with Carol for several years and have had the pleasure of following her to her new studio.
What aspects of Pilates, your instructor, or the studio do you find particularly enjoyable?
Doing Pilates makes me feel strong and keeps me flexible and injury-free. Working with Kathy is such a pleasure, she knows how to tailor our sessions for exactly what I need to work on. All of the instructors are top-notch and make the clients feel very comfortable. The studio is a nice, relaxing respite from the outside world! I always look forward to going, even though it’s hard work!
Do you have a preferred Pilates exercise, or one that you find particularly challenging?
The side leg series has always been particularly challenging for me. A few years ago I basically couldn’t access my glutes at all and now I can do the whole series!
Do you have a perfect Pilates moment or triumph you’ve experienced?
There are two things I am particularly proud of: the ability to hold a long plank with good form along with sets of push-ups and the entire side leg series. In order to do a correct plank, it takes recruiting all the muscles I work hard on during sessions, so it is very satisfying to hold.
Can you share a humorous, captivating, or uplifting anecdote about your experience at Pure Pilates?
There is not one particular anecdote that stands out that I have had at Pure Pilates; however, I can say that consistently, every time I walk in, I am met with an incredibly warm and caring environment. It’s like the bar, Cheers, where everyone knows your name and you feel immediately comfortable!
