In speaking with a friend about what is next for this phase of life as our kids are moving out and finishing college, we started discussing what is your “happy place”. Arthur Brooks was recommended to me and addresses the idea of happiness and what it means without the idea that you are blissfully happy every day. There are tons of podcasts and books on the subject but this one with Simon Sinek resonated with me, he recommends making lists and ordering items on the list. I love lists and putting things in order so this made a lot of sense to me. It also touches on the need for unhappiness in order to experience life and the constant move toward progress not just an end goal; in fact, he believes there is never an end just progress. Hopefully I will continue to progress going forward.
