Sleep is My Waking Passion, a podcast with Dr. Alison Kole.
The body and how it works, moves, reacts, and changes has always been an interest of mine. I’ve been fascinated by this podcast and the ability of these doctors and specialists to interconnect so many elements of our life and explain how it is affecting our sleep.
We all know a good nights sleep is essential to our overall health, but the quality and quantity becomes important on so many levels – and how can we change it if we need to?
As some of you may know, my middle son, August, had a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy this summer due to issues with sleep apnea and breathing. Although we dealt primarily with a pediatric ENT, the issue of sleep was the primary concern of his doctors. Even though our answer for him was surgery (which was amazingly successful), I think everyone can relate to times in their life when they aren’t sleeping well and wanting better sleep. Sleep is crucial to feeling well.
So many topics are covered in this podcast including food, illness, mental health, physical activity, sleeping aids, and so much more. Although clinical and informative, it has a nice conversational and casual feel that makes you want to listen. Even if you sleep like a baby at night and wake up feeling amazing, I still think this is worth a listen – I’ve learned so much about the body from each episode.
Fun fact: Dr. Alison Kole improved her sleep by adding Pilates to her weekly schedule, and has been coming to Pure Pilates since last November!
