In early 2020, when Pure Pilates was forced to close, we pivoted with virtual workouts and focused on what our community wanted and created workouts that supported our clients and the challenges they were facing.
If you scrolled through social media during this time, you would have thought that work/life balance was easily achieved with all the bread baking, puzzle making and virtual cocktail hours being shared with the world. But during the pandemic people struggled to fit in quality time for themselves. Many of you had children “going” to school from their bedrooms. I know that I tussled for office space with my spouse. Did you? And without a commute or anywhere to go, we found ourselves working longer days and wondering where the time went.
I started to fit in a minimum of 15 minutes of movement into my day for myself and I wanted to encourage that for my clients and the Pure Pilates community. We started offering Flash-15 workouts where you could take yourself out of your head and enjoy 15 minutes of movement. Our teachers also taught complimentary live and recorded workouts to share with all of you. We’ve recorded so many that we have an amazing virtual library of over 60 workouts to offer!
Even before the pandemic and now as we are coming out of it, time is a precious commodity. So, how can you make the most of 15 minutes? And yes, I can hear some of you saying, “what can I accomplish in 15 minutes?” Plenty! With a bit of planning and creativity, you can put together a simple, effective movement routine for yourself. To help you get started, I offer you the gift of 15 minutes with my workout Head to Toe as an example.
Just as the title suggests, the class starts with a standing routine that focuses on your lower body. Head to the floor to work your core and finish this total body workout with planking and push-ups your upper body.
